Overlooked at TAC Cup level before emerging as a draft prospect via the VFL, Fritsch was selected with pick 31 by Melbourne in the 2017 NAB AFL Draft. Catching the eye of scouts after his outstanding and consistent 2017 campaign with the Casey Demons, Fritsch is incredibly strong in the air, with sure hands and a booming left foot. One of Casey’s best performers, Fritsch booted 42 goals to be awarded the Fothergill-Round Medal for most promising player in the VFL.
Bayley made his AFL debut in Round 1 2018 against Geelong at the MCG, taking a spectacular mark in the opening minutes before kicking his first AFL goal. His season grew with every game, showing his versatility as a marking target as well as a ball-user further up the field.
A first season of 23 games including two winning finals, 17 goals and impact in all three parts of the ground augurs well for what Fritsch can provide the Demons in the years ahead.
