Rockliff was selected by the Brisbane Lions with the 5th Pick in the 2009 AFL Pre-Season Draft, In his second year at the Brisbane Lions, Rockliff was awarded the Lions Rookie of the Year in 2010 whilst finishing 3rd in the league’s AFL Rising Star Award.
Rockliff’s rise in 2011 was remarkable as he won the club’s Merret-Murray Medal, awarded to the best and fairest player. During this breakout season, Tom averaged an amazing 27.7 disposals a game and was recognised for both his attacking ability as well as his defensive work-rate that was highlighted in his last two games of the 2011 season where he accumulated 27 tackles collectively.
2013 & 2014 saw Tom take the next step in his AFL career achieving a career high of 21 votes in the 2013 Brownlow Medal count, finishing equal 5th and then making the All Australian team in 2014. Following this Tom was appointed Captain of the Brisbane Lions football Club for the 2015 & 2016 season showing the respect he had from his peers and staff.
Following the 2017 Season Tom made the move to the Port Adelaide Football Club via free agency where he made an immediate impact playing 18 games and adding vital leadership to the Port Adelaide Midfield. Tom is contracted until the end of 2021 where he will look to lead Port Adelaide deeper into September.
