A medium midfielder with excellent speed, vision and composure with the ball, Broomhead was taken by Collingwood with selection 20 in the 2012 NAB AFL Draft after an impressive Under 18 carnival with South Australia and making his debut for Port Adelaide Magpies at senior SANFL level.
In 2013, Broomhead suffered a bout of Glandular Fever, but after a full recovery was able to make his AFL debut Round 13 2014 against the Western Bulldogs. Broomhead showed some excellent in his 8 AFL games for the season as well as several dominant displays in the VFL.
2015 saw Broomhead showcase his talent and ability, highlighted in his career-high 25 possessions against GWS in Round 16, which gained him a NAB Rising Star nomination. Sadly, Tim suffered a broken shoulder during his 2015 campaign, seeing him sidelined for the remainder of the year. Injuries continued to derail Broomhead’s 2016 campaign. However, with a contract extension and significant backing from the Collingwood Football Club, Broomhead was able to rehabilitate and prepare himself for 2017.
Broomhead’s return in 2017 came in Round 2 against Richmond. His 2017 campaign consisted of 14 AFL games, including a 26 disposal performance in the side’s 1-point win over Sydney in Round 3. Broomhead now looks to the 2018 season where he hopes cement his position in Collingwood’s senior side.
