Sunday Aryang is widely considered as Australia’s most exciting young talent in the game. The Goal Defender had a meteoric rise over her first two seasons in the Suncorp Super Netball and now representing her country, Diamond number #184. Sunday also made history as the first African-born woman to represent the Diamonds.

Bio

Raised in Western Australia, Sunday Aryang is the first Ethiopian Australian to compete in the Suncorp Super Netball League. The highly talented and athletic goal defender moved to Australia at the age of 1, with her parents and four siblings.

Sunday progressed through the Netball WA player pathways despite not knowing what Netball was until the age of 10. Her school did not have a basketball team so Sunday was then introduced to the game of Netball by default.

After Sunday’s potential was discovered at a school tournament, she never looked back and played for the Rangers in the Gold Industry Group West Australian Netball League.

Sunday went on to make her National League debut in 2019 at the age of 19 and currently plays for West Coast Fever.

Known for her fierce defensive line, ability to read the play and clean attack on the contest, Sunday is ranked among the top defenders in the league and was named in the 2021 Nissan Net Points SSN team of the Year.

2021 was a great year for Sunday, playing every game for the West Coast Fever and being named in her first ever Diamonds team for the 2022 January Quad Series tour. She had her first Diamonds Cap in this tour, as Diamond #184.

In 2022 she picked up where she left off, becoming a dominant player in the Super Netball League and helping the West Coast Fever to victory. She backed this up with selection in the 2022 Commonwealth Games side, where she gained valuable experience and helped the Diamonds secure a gold medal.
