Bio

An Adelaide boy, Dew’s involvement in AFL began as a player when he was selected to be part of Port Adelaide’s inaugural side in 1997.

A versatile player, Dew could be seen running out of half-back, while he also claimed he club’s Leading Goalkicker Award in 2002.

With a booming kick, Dew etched his name in the history books as part of Port Adelaide’s first AFL Premiership side in 2004.

Retiring from AFL in 2006, Dew spent 2007 away from football. However, he shocked the football world when he nominated for the AFL Draft, and was subsequently picked up by Hawthorn ahead of the 2008 season.

Targeted by Hawthorn because of his precision kicking, Dew underwent a physical transformation to get himself back to match fitness.

When he did, he proved to b a missing link for the Hawks and helped them to a Premiership in 2008. Dew himself was close to Best on Ground, and finished his AFL career for good after 2009.

After retiring, Dew established himself as a coach through the Sydney Swans as their Development Coach from 2010-2011, then moving up to an Assistant Coach role from 2012-2017.

Dew was announced as the Head Coach of the Gold Coast Suns ahead of the 2018 season. With a young, enthusiastic and talented group, Dew is charged with the responsibility of turning a squad full of potential, into a side fit for finals.
