Born in South Africa, Michael Neser moved with his family to the Gold Coast at the age of 10 and emerged in Queensland’s Under-19 side in 2008-09. A bowling all-rounder with decent pace and the ability to bat up the order if required, Neser made his state debut in 2010-11 in the Sheffield Shield and Ryobi Cup.
Ness was among the best for the Heat in BBL01 with the ball taking 7 with wickets with a strike rate of 18, with an economy rate of 7.86 and best figures of 3/31. Not only was he a key contributor with the ball but was also handy with the bat, with a strike rate of 148.65 and an average 55, before moving to Adelaide strikers from BBL02 onwards. He has been a consistent wicket taker for Queensland in the Sheffield Shield competition with over 180 first class wickets at 25.
He is regarded as one of the best swing bowlers in Australia which led to him being selected in the 2019 Ashes squad in England.
