Born in Durban, South Africa Kelly moved to Perth when he was four years old. Standing at 193cm tall the towering quick played for the Australia Under-19 team against India, New Zealand, Zimbabwe and South Africa in 2013 and helped his club side Claremont-Nedlands to claim victory in the Premier Cricket T20 competition in 2014-15.
The fast bowler earned a Western Warriors rookie deal for the 2016-17 season but it was the 2017/18 season which proved to be a breakout year for Kelly, making both List A and JLT Sheffield Shield debuts against Tasmania, including being a key member to WA’s JLT One Day cup winning team. For his efforts Kelly has earned himself a Full Warriors contract for the 2018/19 season. In just his second game for WA in the JLT One Day Cup, Kelly made an impact claiming 4-25 against Queensland. Kelly continued his dominance over the Bulls taking 5 wickets against Queensland in the 2017-18 Sheffield Shield. In April 2019, he was signed by the Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise the Kolkata Knight Riders as a replacement player for the tournament.
