The multi-talented author and netballer, Maddy Proud signed with the Adelaide Thunderbirds in 2011 at just 16 years of age. Jumping onto the elite stage at such a young age, Maddy has continued to rise and become a standout in the Suncorp Super Netball League. From 2011 to 2016 Maddy made 44 appearances for the Thunderbirds and featured in Adelaide’s reserve team, Southern Force’s Premiership in 2012 at just 17.
Ahead of the inaugural 2017 Suncorp Super Netball season, Maddy signed with the NSW Swifts where she immediately demonstrated her capabilities and skill winning the club’s Most Valuable Player award that year. Whilst continuing to play for the Swifts, Maddy has released a book, Grace on the Court, chronicling the life of a 13-year-old netballer in her first year of high school. Maddy also made her first Australian appearance that year in the Fast5 Netball World Series where Australia finished third behind New Zealand and Jamaica.
Playing at centre and wing attack, Maddy continued to impress for the swifts in the 2018 season signing a new contract until 2020 and became the captain of the team for the 2019 season. Whilst unfortunately injuring her ACL at the start of the season Maddy, still played a major part from the sidelines, helping the Swifts to their Premiership as part of the coaching team. Maddy is also looking at ways to improve her game to become better and progress to the Diamonds squad in the coming years.
