Bio

Recruited from South Warrnamool Football Club, Cameron began his playing career with Footscray in 1990. A consistent player, Cameron’s 10 years at Footscray and the Western Bulldogs saw him win the Club Best and Fairest in 1993, and named The Age Footballer of the Year in 1995.

He played 172 games for the Dogs, then in 2000 was traded to Richmond. Here, he added a further 84 games to his tally, finishing his career in 2003 with 256 games.

Straight after retiring as a player, Cameron returned to the Western Bulldogs as an Assistant Coach, from 2004 to 2010. After three years as an Assistant Coach at Hawthorn, Cameron accepted a role at the Giants.

As Senior Assistant Coach in 2013, Cameron worked underneath Kevin Sheedy before taking over as Head Coach in 2014. In his time at the club he has taken the Giants to their first finals series in 2016, and first Grand Final in 2019, albeit a loss to Richmond.

Cameron continued in this role for 9 seasons and 193 games, finishing in 2022 as the Giants longest serving Head Coach.
