Josh Battle was drafted by the St Kilda Football Club during the 2016 Draft. He is a power key-forward who has aerial dominance as well as great agility and touch at ground level. Battle, a product of the AFL Academy, was VIC Country’s leading goal-kicker during the 2016 NAB AFL U18 National Championship. He finished the carnival with 11 goals
Battle also showed his elite endurance during the 2016 NAB Draft Combine by running a 10:07 3km time-trail. Furthermore, he was selected in the TAC CUP Team of The Year in 2016.
Whilst Josh was drafted by the St Kilda Football Club, he was also undergoing his final year of high-school. Despite this, Josh still managed to make his senior debut in 2017 where he managed to kick a goal against the Bombers. 2018 saw Josh play a further 6 games at AFL level but due to injuries and form could not solidify his spot in the senior team.
Having played as a forward in his two years at the Saints, Battle added flexibility to his game in the lead up to the 2019 season. Battle has played the first seven games for the Saints across half back and has been one of their shinning lights so far. Battle is contracted to St. Kilda until the end of 2020.
