After failing to maintain himself as a mainstay in the Tasmanian line-up for several years he decided to move to Western Australia for the 2015/16 season. This move worked wonder for him securing a full contract for the 2016/17 season and scored 2 centuries, the first against his old state Tasmania. He continued to play cricket for the Hobart Hurricanes until season 2017/18 when he moved to Adelaide Strikers.

Jon has established himself as one of the best T20 middle order batsman in Australia after his performances in BBL8 and BBL9, selected in team of the year for both tournaments. In BBL9 he scored 478 runs at an average of 68.28 justifying his title as the best finisher in the BBL. Jon was rewarded with a contract for Hampshire ahead of the 2020 T20 Blast in England which was cancelled due to Covid-19, however showed he is gaining recognition on an international level.
