Holland went from an uncapped state player to making it to the Australian squad within a year. His attacking left arm orthodox spin has come through the Centre of Excellence and Australian U19 team.

When the opportunities arrived he took them: 13 wickets at 23.69 in 2014-15 and 14 at 20.92 in 2015-16. Notably, he stepped up with eight wickets for the match in the Shield final in March 2016 to help Victoria win the title in Adelaide. This consistency led to a Test debut in Sri Lanka in 2016. He then claimed man of the match honors in the 2016/17 Sheffield Shield final claiming 7/82 in the first innings.

He was then further selected on Australian tours of South Africa and the UAE in 2018 and returned home to Victoria to once again play an important role in the Sheffield Shield team winning the title in 2018/19.
