Jo Weston is not only Australia's best netball defenders, but she is also a leader within the industry and a fan favourite.

Bio

Jo grew up in Corowa, Victoria, where she found her love for Netball playing juniors for the Waverley District Netball Association.

Jo emerged onto the national stage as one of Australia’s best defenders, after her impressive campaign in the 2013 Australian U/21 World Youth Championship side.

In 2014, Jo started her professional career at the Melbourne Vixens, winning a Premiership in her debut year. The following year, Jo earned her Australian Diamonds debut and was named the Melbourne Vixens Rookie of the Year.

Jo is now considered a senior and vital player for both the Melbourne Vixens and Australian Diamonds, highlighted by winning the Vixens MVP of the Finals in their 2020 Championship winning campaign.

After taking home Silver at both the 2018 Commonwealth Games and 2019 World Championships, Jo continues to be a key player for the Diamonds.

At the 2022 Commonwealth Games, Jo was a key defender in a tough campaign for the Diamonds, where they ultimately took home the Gold medal after beating Jamaica in the final.

Having already completed a Bachelor in Commerce at Melbourne University, Jo is now undergoing her Masters at Deakin. Jo is the current vice president of the Australia Netball Players’ Association representing her peers and their interests. She also sits on the Board of Melbourne University Sport. Away from the court, Weston’s interests are wide and varied including environmental causes, her puppy Billy and her beloved Essendon FC.

Jo is a passionate ambassador for the not-for-profit mental health and suicide prevention foundation – The United Project. Her existing corporate partnerships include Nissan, Deakin, Puma and Gilbert.
