A self proclaimed "Journeyman" Cameron Gannon is as resilient and down to earth as they come. Having been in the profession system for over 10 years, Gannon has experienced all the highs and lows.
Born in Sydney, Cameron Gannon also has an American Passport thank to his mother who lives in Sacramento. Gannon is an Ipswich Grammar School Old Boy. He began playing cricket as a junior with Ipswich Brothers and Ipswich Grammar School.
Gannon made his first-class debut in a Sheffield Shield match against Tasmania in October 2010 and was added as a member of the 2011–2012 Queensland Bulls squad, on a rookie contract. In 2012 he made his Twenty20 debut in 2012 in the KFC Big Bash League but it was the 2013-14 tournament where Gannon announced himself and became the tournaments leading wicket taker for that season combining pace at the top of the order with slow-ball varieties at the tail of the innings. Gannon’s promising start to his domestic career stalled when he was suspended by Cricket Australia for an illegal bowling action in 2013. Having re-modelled his action and been cleared to return for the 2013-14 season Gannon had been in and out of the Queensland team until a consistent run in 2019-20 saw him become the Sheffield Shield leading wicket taker for that season. With his US passport, Gannon has also played International T20 Cricket for the USA debuting in August 2019 against Bermuda.
Gannon is a dedicated family man who spends his downtime with his wife and 2 young children. He also loves to play golf and is studying finance at University.
In a professional career there are going to be times when you need someone to pick you back up and put you back together and my wife has been unbelievable for me.
