After 14 seasons at the Bombers, Cale Hooker retired as one of Essendon's most dependable players, and part of the AFL's elusive 200 game club.

Bio

A product of Western Australia, Cale Hooker played for East Fremantle in the WAFL before being drafted in the 2007 National Draft.

Called out by Essendon, Hooker moved East to begin his 14 year career, playing 2 games in his debut year.

The defender his his straps in his second year, playing 16 games and showing his durability as he played consistent football over the next few seasons.

In 2014 Hooker finished second in the Club Best and Fairest and was named All-Australian.

With the Bombers lacking tall forwards, Hooker made a move to the forward line in 2015 and claimed his first Essendon Best and Fairest. This was also the season Hooker was first promoted to the Leadership Group.

While playing as a forward, Hooker’s best season was in 2017 when he kicked 41 goals. A return to the backline beckoned in 2019 where Hooker proved to be an experienced head amongst the back six.

Celebrating his 200th game in 2020, Hooker took his games tally to 219 before retiring at the end of the 2021 season.

Outside of football, Hooker runs a boutique winery out of the Swan Valley called Hooker Wines.

He is also a proud Bully Zero Ambassador.
