Hailing from a strong cricketing family in Londonderry, Boyd Rankin first came to prominence as leading wicket taker in the Ireland team that progressed to the Super Eight section of the 2007 World Cup. A veteran of 70 ODI internationals, his most famous moment in an Irish shirt came at the 2011 World Cup in Bangalore as part of the Ireland team that beat England.

Blessed with great height Rankin gains bounce from even the most sluggish of surface and has the pace to further upset the best batsmen.

In 2012, he made himself unavailable for Ireland in a bid to play Test cricket with England.┬áStrong ODI and T20 performances against Australia in 2013 saw him named in England’s Ashes squad to tour Australia in 2013-14. An England test debut followed in Sydney in the 5th test.

Boyd has played a prominent role for Warwickshire since 2008 when he made the move from Derbyshire. He continues to be a key part of their attack in all formats.

Boyd has now returned to his Irish roots and was contracted to Cricket Ireland again in 2016 as part of a strong Irish squad, working towards Test status and improved ranking in the ODI and T20 arena.
