Some of TLA’s talent that took the plunge included AFL greats Cyril Rioli, Sam Mitchell, Jobe Watson and Brent Harvey as well as Stride Sport’s Nick Riewoldt and Bob Murphy.
If this cold shock wasn’t enough, the talent then generously donated to the cause which aims to find effective treatments and ultimately a cure for Motor Neurone Disease.
The cause, spearheaded by former Essendon player and Melbourne coach Neale Daniher, saw the footy world unite in their commitment to fight ‘The Beast’ that takes the life of two Australians every day. Earlier in the week, the Melbourne FC media team captured Daniher’s moving speech to the players, where he spoke about how he deals with adversity and the importance of conducting yourself in a positive way through the tough times. With official counting still continuing, over $4.75m had been raised. The official attendance for Big Freeze 5 was 74,036.
