TLA’s Emma McKeon, Mollie O’Callaghan, Mack Horton, Freya Anderson, Duncan Scott, Minna Atherton and Adam Peaty all made an impact in the pool at the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham. The group combined for a total of 29 medals – 15 gold, 5 silver and 9 bronze.
Emma McKeon once again stole the show, winning 6 gold medals, 1 silver and 1 bronze tallying her total Commonwealth Games gold medals to 11. This an all-time Commonwealth high cementing her place in history as potentially the most decorated athlete in Australian history.
Australia’s claimed next big swimmer Mollie O’Callaghan has justified her hype winning a total of 7 medals – 5 gold and 2 silver medals. An incredible performance coming in the 100m freestyle when storming home and overtaking Jack and McKeon in the final stages to claim gold. Mollie amazingly is only 18 years old and still has a year of school remaining, with saying “this is just the beginning … I’m still learning.”
Our other swimmers claimed a total of 14 medals – Mack 1 gold and 1 bronze, Freya 2 silver and 1 bronze, Duncan 2 gold and 5 bronze, Adam 1 gold and 1 bronze and Minna unlucky with a couple of 4th places.
We expect each to continue to build themselves for a big campaign on the mainstage at the Paris Olympics in 2024.
