Tiger Time:
Cotchin leads Richmond to third premiership in four years

Richmond has claimed back-to-back premierships, and made it three of the last four flags, after coming from behind to beat Geelong by 31 points in the historic first ever Toyota AFL Grand Final at the Gabba. It etched the Tiger dynasty into football history as one of the most dominant sides of this century.

Richmond skipper, TLA’s Trent Cotchin became the club’s first triple premiership captain to write his name into Punt Road folklore. After his efforts in 2017 and 2019, Cotchin sat alongside Royce Hart, Dan Minogue and Percey Bentley as the club’s only dual Tigers premiership captains. But that all changed on Saturday night as he became one of only eight in the game’s history to captain his side to three flags (Syd Coventry, Allan La Fontaine, Dick Reynolds, John Nicholls, Michael Tuck, Michael Voss and Luke Hodge).

Sharing in the Tigers success under lights was Shane Edwards, Liam Baker and Bachar Houli – who later revealed he injured his calf in the opening minutes of the game, but played on throughout.
