TLA’s own Emma McKeon has again shocked the world with an astonishing individual Commonwealth Games campaign of inspiring millions and breaking records.
Considered by many the greatest Australian Olympian of all time, now has also conquered the Commonwealth Games to reach legendary status among Australian athletes.
Emma’s six gold medals equals the record for most gold medals won at a single Games to be only shared by fellow Aussies O’Neill and Thorpe. Further silver and bronze medal winnings bought her tally to eight overall medals also equaling O’Neill’s record for the most at a single Games.
Emma won gold in the mixed 4x100m medley relay, 50m butterfly, 50m freestyle, 4x100m freestyle relay, mixed 4x100m freestyle relay and 4x100m medley relay. As for silver in the 100m butterfly and bronze in the 100m freestyle.
Emma’s 11th Commonwealth Games gold medal surpasses her past swimming greats Susie O’Neill, Ian Thorpe, and Leisel Jones who each hold 10 gold medals. Emma now stands in a league of her own and is the most successful Commonwealth Games athlete of all time.
