American football comes to Sydney for the first time since 1999

TLA, in a partnership with TEG Live, successfully delivered the 2016 College Football Sydney Cup, presented by Foxtel. The game was the official kick off of the NCAA 2016 College Championships and was played between the University of Hawaii and University of California, Berkeley.

Beamed back to the USA during Friday night prime time, the game showcased the third most watched sport in America with over 100 million fans.

The event was a spectacle in true American style, with half-time entertainment featuring marching bands, cheerleaders, a canon, mascots and a flash mob plus a custom American food offering.

TLA was responsible for the team services and logistics in the 6 months leading up to the event ensuring that the teams and their extended traveling party had a seamless, once in a life time experience from the moment they boarded the plane to Sydney, up until the moment they arrived home. Services provided pre, during and post-event included co-ordination of the both traveling parties’ passport, immigration and freight requirements, on-ground transport whilst in Sydney, accommodation and procurement and management of their training venues.

TLA also managed all of the PR and media both during the months leading up to and throughout the event week. This included over twenty PR opportunities and media calls including 100, 50 and 25 days to go stunts events. TLA managed the event’s social media channels providing exclusive behind-the scenes content throughout the week of both team’s preparation and activity throughout the week.

The post-match Official Tailgate experience which was enjoyed by around 6,000 fans on the day was produced and project managed by TLA’s event team from conceptualization all the way through to the event.
