West Coast Fever Name Diamond Natalie Medhurst as Most Valuable Player
Decorated Diamond Natalie Medhurst has been named West Coast Fever’s Most Valuable Player.
The tenacious shooter took out the coveted award at the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre on the same day she was named in the Australian Diamonds’ squad to play in the World Cup in Sydney in August.
Fellow shooter Caitlin Bassett was also named in the Diamonds’ squad.
Bassett took out the Perth Now Fan Player of the year from Brazill and Medhurst.
The Coaches’ Award was won by Ingrid Colyer, while Jordan Stares was named Club Person of the Year
Fever coach Stacey Rosman said Caitlin and Medhurst’s selection into the Diamonds’ World Cup team was a fitting reward for their season.
“Both players had wonderful seasons as individuals and for the Club, and again proved that they are a formidable combination in the attacking end of the game,” Rosman said.
“Both of these athletes are self driven and exemplify elite behaviours that enable them to perform consistently and under pressure week in, week out.”
Fever took great steps forward this season, and this was recognised by having five players named in the Diamonds’ training squad.
Brazill, Khao Watts and April Letton were all in the mix for the World Cup squad.
“I certainly look forward to seeing Ash, Khao and April continue to grow as players and challenge strongly for Diamonds selection in the near future,” Rosman said.
“There is such depth in Australian Netball that to be selected into a Diamonds squad in itself is a massive achievement and should not be underestimated.
