Ryan is a medium sized midfielder who has a real thirst for the contest. He is a prolific ball winner with elite endurance and is one who can find the ball. He works incredibly hard both on and off the ground, his high disposal-count a product of his high work rate and gut-running. With such attributes, Ryan’s appeal is obvious to North Melbourne, hence his recruitment in the 2015 national Draft.
Ryan made a very impressive debut during the 2016 season, having 21 disposals, 4 clearances and 4 inside 50’s against West Coast in Round 16. Ryan played the remaining 5 games for the year, averaging 17.6 disposals. Clarke was nominated for a NAB AFL Rising Star after his performance in round 18.
On the back of such success in the late stages of the 2016 season, Ryan’s 2017 was a continuation and further advancement of his form. In his 15 games for the year, Clarke booted 6 goals and found himself averaging 11.3 disposals and 2 tackles a game. Clarke will look towards the 2018 season where he will hope to further his work as a growing midfielder.
