Nathan Wright was drafted by the St Kilda Football Club during the 2012 NAB AFL Draft. Wright was one of the TAC CUP’s best performers, often playing across the half-back line and in the midfield. Wright was also a member of the AIS-AFL Academy as well as the 2012 VIC Country U18 side during the National Championships.
After joining the Saints, Wright made his senior debut in round 3 of the 2013 season against the GWS Giants. Wright impressed on debut with 22 disposals, 3 tackles and 3 rebounds. Nathan impressed in his first year as a Saint with a total of 8 games. The 2014 season started well for Wright however was soon struck down by a cruel broken fibula, sidelining the defender for 12 weeks. Collectively, the 2014 and 2015 seasons were promising by Wright however his senior showings were inconsistent (much of which was owed to injury), fielding the senior line-up 12 times. In 2016, Wright was moved to a small forward role where his pressure and dynamism proved effective. He played 10 games for the year, kicking 7 goals.
2017 consisted of three senior showings for Wright. He will look towards the 2018 season where he will hope to make more senior appearances. Nathan has played 30 senior games for St Kilda during his 5 years at the club.
