Born in South Africa, Michael Neser moved with his family to the Gold Coast at the age of 10 and emerged in Queensland’s Under-19 side in 2008-09. A bowling all-rounder with decent pace and the ability to bat up the order if required, Neser made his state debut in 2010-11 in the Sheffield Shield and Ryobi Cup.
Ness was among the best for the Heat in BBL01 with the ball taking 7 with wickets with a strike rate of 18, with an economy rate of 7.86 and best figures of 3/31. Not only was he a key contributor with the ball but was also handy with the bat, with a strike rate of 148.65 and an average 55, before moving to Adelaide strikers from BBL02 onwards.
