Mathew Lobbe has been traded from the Port Adelaide Football Club to the Carlton Football Club ahead of the 2018 season. Lobbe is a hard-running and competitive ruckman who can also be damaging to opposition when up forward.
Despite being withheld by ongoing injuries, Lobbe has experienced great success at Port Adelaide, most notably in seasons 2013 and 2014. In 2014 Lobbe’s performance and rise to be one of the most dominant ruckman in the league was complimented by his Coaches’ Award. Despite losing some form in 2015, Lobbe’s contribution and leadership around the club as well as his professionalism to the sport was recognised through his appointment as joint vice-captain of the football club. Lobbe has played the 2016 and 2017 season’s predominately in the SANFL, displaying dominant performances throughout.
Lobbe looks to continue his football career as he joins the Carlton Football Club until the end of the 2019 season. Lobbe’s leadership and form as a ruckman were driving forces in Carlton’s bid for Lobbe.
