Karpany was picked by the West Coast Eagles at pick 31 in the 2013 NAB AFL Draft. Karpany was recruited as a midfielder who has the added ability to push forward and kick goals. He has a penetrating left foot that, when paired with his amazing agility, allows him to cut angles and create plays from congested situations.
Karpany played his first senior game against Collingwood in Round 19 of the 2016 season. He managed only the 1 senior game in 2016 however continued to develop and played 6 games in the 2017 season. He showed great ability in the highest grade, where in Round 15 against the Bulldogs, he collected 17 disposals and kicked 3 goals. Sadly he missed several games following his 3-goal haul due to a quad injury and managed only the 2 games on return.
Karpany will aim to make a further impact in 2018 and hopefully seek to transition into the role of out-of-contract veteran, Mark LeCras.
