An aggressive key forward with a strong mark and accurate set shot for goal, Hulett overcame an injury interrupted 2015 to produce a strong first season in the AFL system.
After impressing for Vic Country at the 2013 NAB AFL Under 16 Championships, Hulett played limited football in 2014 and 2015 due to injury but did show glimpses of his talent with the Dandenong Stingrays and also in the 2015 Young Guns game.
The Seaford and Bonbeach product continued a strong tradition for the area when Melbourne selected him with pick 46 in the 2015 NAB AFL Draft. That didn’t deter the Demons from picking Liam in the National Draft.
Hulett spent 2016 with Melbourne’s VFL affiliate, Casey Scorpions, kicking 29 goals from 18 games, including two hauls of four. With the experience of a year in the AFL system under his belt, Hulett will push his claims for an AFL debut under Simon Goodwin in 2017.
