Lachie Whitfield was selected by the GIANTS with pick number one in the 2012 NAB AFL Draft. The former Dandenong Stingray is naturally gifted with speed, endurance and skill which saw him win the Larke medal for best player in the Under 18 National Championships. Whitfield made his AFL debut in round one, 2013 and was nominated for the NAB AFL Rising Star award in his first season.
Whitfield has gone on to play 115 games for the Giants predominately on a wing and in more recent times off half back. 2018 saw Whitfields most consistent season to date winning the Giants best and fairest award and being selected in the All-Australian team.
The classy half back has had a strong 2019 pre-season and will look to build on last years personal success to help lift the Giants up the ladder this season.
