Jordan Ridley

Melbourne, Victoria

Nick Gieschen

Essendon/Oakleigh Chargers/Vic Metro/Knox

Career Highlights

Ridley is a tall running player who is versatile enough to play anywhere around the ground but has played his best football to date in defence. Ridley is highly skilled, which was shown at the NAB AFL Draft Combine, where he won the Kicking Test. Ridley is strong overhead, which is a key feature of his game. During the 2016 TAC Cup season, he averaged 19 disposals per game for the Oakleigh Chargers.

A Vic Metro representative at the 2016 NAB AFL Under 18 Championships, he was selected by Essendon with pick 22 at the 2016 NAB AFL Draft. Ridley’s skill set has him very well placed to come in and prove to be a handy asset for the Bombers from early on in his career. Ridley has made an immediate impact since joining Essendon, providing the VFL side with great height and flexibility with his versatility.

Jordan made his AFL debut in Round 9 of the 2018 AFL season where he accumulated 25 possessions, 5 rebounds and 2 inside 50s with an efficiency of 80%. His ability to play as a key defender yet still provide crucial rebound is one of his greatest attributes – a very exciting debut. For a debutant to have the impact he did, Essendon must be truly excited for what his future games will hold.
