The compact opening batsman Jonathan Wells was given his first taste of first-class cricket in 2008-09. His promotion follows strong seasons in Hobart grade cricket and he was upgraded to a full state deal for 2009-10.
After failing to maintain himself as a mainstay in the Tasmanian line-up for several years he decided to move to Western Australia for the 2015/16 season. This moved worked wonder for him securing a full contract for the 2016/17 season scoring 2 centuries that season the first against his old state Tasmania. He continued to play cricket for the Hobart Hurricanes in this time up until season 2017/18 when he moved to Adelaide Strikers.
