As a three time Olympian and long standing member of the Utah Jazz, Joe Ingles is one of the most well-known and respected Australian basketballers playing in the NBA.
Ingles grew up in Adelaide, South Australia, before moving to Canberra as a teenager to be part of the Australian Institute of Sport basketball program. After two years in the program, Ingles was approached by multiple NBL clubs and eventually signed with the South Dragons in 2006.
In his first season at the Dragons Ingles was named NBL Rookie of the Year, and two years later helped them win their maiden NBL Championship. From there he headed overseas and begun the European leg of his career.
Over the 4 seasons he played in Spain’s National Basketball League Ingles was a 2 x Liga ACB Champion, and finished with one season in Israel.
Ahead of the 2014-15 NBA season Ingles was given his first opportunity in the NBA spending preseason with the LA Clippers. After being waived by the Clippers Ingles signed with the Utah Jazz. Ingles impressed in his debut season and was offered a multi-year deal, slowly becoming one of Australia’s biggest names in the NBA. In the off season of 2017 Joe signed a 4 year contract to remaining with the Jazz, becoming a key member of their franchise.
So far in his career Ingles has represented Australia at three Olympics and numerous FIBA tournaments.
Joe is married to Australian netballer Renae Ingles and in 2016 the couple welcomed their twins Jacob and Milla into the world. Jacob was diagnosed with austism in 2019 and since then Joe and Renae have become advocates for autism awareness, both in Australia and the United States.
The family currently split their time between living in Utah during the NBA season, and Australia (Melbourne) in the off-season.
