Jack Hombsch is a versatile defender who can play on a variety of different opponents, now at Gold Coast Hombsch will be looking to add leadership and experience to the Suns backline.
Originally from Roxby Downs, Hombsch was selected by the GWS Giants as an underage recruit and played 9 games in their inaugural season. The following year Hombsch was traded to the Port Adelaide Football Club where he would go on to play 89 games from 2013-2018. Exciting performances throughout the 2014 and 2015 season saw Hombsch become one of Port Adelaide’s most important defenders taking on the big forwards every week.
Unfortunately consistent injuries hampered Hombsch over the next three seasons which resulted in being traded to the Gold Coast Suns ahead of the 2019 season. An uninterrupted pre-season has Hombsch in good shape leading into the season. Hopefully he and the Gold Coast Suns will soon be rising up the ladder in the near future.
Off the field Hombsch does a power of work in South Australia helping children with disabilities which has seen him be rewarded with three community awards at the Port Adelaide Best and Fairest night.
