The younger brother of North Melbourne’s Ryan Clarke, Dylan was awarded All Australian honours during the 2016 NAB AFL Under 18 National Championship for Vic Metro. He averaged 24 disposals per game, half of which were contested. Clarke’s quick and precise hands saw him lead the 2016 NAB AFL Under-18 National Championship in clearances. He was awarded midfield honours in the 2016 TAC Cup Team of The Year after an excellent year for the Eastern Ranges. Clarke was selected by Essendon with pick 63 at the 2016 NAB AFL Draft. The Melbourne Grammar product will provide Essendon with another clearance-winner in an already well built outfit.
After showing great promise in Essendon’s VFL side, Clarke was called for his senior debut ahead of Round 9 of the 2018 AFL season. Clarke flourished at the opportunity, proving himself to be a defensive beast as he laid 5 tackles, kicked a goal and had 9 disposals. Clarke will look to further develop his game and provide Essendon with further x-factor throughout the coming years.
