With six top-five finishes in Essendon’s Best and Fairest, midfielder Brent Stanton is crucial to the Bombers’ side. A ball magnet, Stanton has topped 450-plus possessions in each of the past seven seasons, with a career high 572 in 2009. With superb endurance, Stanton has been ultra-consistent and also been able to hit the scoreboard regularly despite the presence of run-with players. Stanton polled a career high 14 votes in the 2012 Brownlow Medal and has been a key leader for the Bombers. Off-field Brent is an extremely keen golfer and plays off scratch.
Brent announced his retirement during the 2017 season, drawing a close to an incredibly polished career. Brent will now look to continue his football journey in the coaching seat. His debut coaching role will be with the Northern Blues as one of several coaches there. Brent will look to implement his years of experience and knowledge onto the developing and senior players of the Northern Blues team.
