Billy was drafted as a father-son prospect during the 2014 NAB AFL Draft. Stretch follows father and best and fairest Demon, Steven Stretch, in joining the Demons. Billy has been recognised as one of the most professional young talents to come through Melbourne, being praised for the constant strides he takes in improving his development and progress. Stretch is a craft, outside wingman who boasts composure, skill and class in his game-style.
Stretch has begun his Melbourne career in a positive way, playing a collective 27 games during his first two seasons over 2015 and 2016. When appearing in the VFL for the Casey Demons, Stretch has been playing very consistently and showing he has what it takes to play at the elite level. Under new coach, Simon Goodwin, Billy’s 2017 campaign has showed further signs of development in his 9 AFL appearances. Melbourne has instilled their faith and trust in the 21 year old, signing him until the end of the 2019 season.
Billy will now look towards the 2018 season where he hopes to play more frequently in what will be a very competitive midfield.
