Bailey Williams is an ultra-competitive utility who has great ability in winning the ball, tackling and decision-making. At 187cm, Williams can play off the half-back line as well as through the midfield. He is incredibly agile and has a very strong contested game and ability to execute under pressure. After showing such highlights as his 56-possession game against Woodville-West Torrens for Glenelg in the SANFL, Williams was taken with pick 48 in the 2015 NAB AFL Draft.
Williams made his debut for the Bulldogs in Round 8 in the club’s win over Melbourne FC. He made a promising impact with 14 disposals. Williams played six senior games for the year, averaging 16 disposals off half-back and was a member of Footscray’s VFL Premiership side.
Williams played a further 12 senior games in 2017 where he showed further improvement and development. He averaged 16 disposals, 4 marks and 2 tackles a game and showed glimpses of great, experienced football. In Round 7 of the 2017 season, Williams had a career-high disposals of 23 against Richmond and further, a career-high rebound 50s of 6 against Port Adelaide in Round 22. Bailey is contracted to the Bulldogs until the end of the 2019 season. He will hope to make further inroads into his career in the 2018 season.
