St Kilda FC- Robertson Signed on for Contract Extension
The good news keeps coming at St Kilda with the club today announcing defender Dylan Roberton has signed a contract extension until the end of 2017.
Roberton, who arrived at the club as a delisted free agent at the end of 2012, has played 37 games for the Saints after also playing 37 games for Fremantle (74 total).
The tall, running half-back had an immediate impact upon arrival at Linen House Centre, finishing 10th in the best and fairest in 2013 before ankle injuries disrupted his 2014 campaign.
The 23-year-old has recaptured his best form in 2015, becoming a mainstay across half-back and, with Josh Bruce, would currently be vying for most improved player.
Coach Alan Richardson said securing Roberton’s signature was another step to building St Kilda’s future. “Dylan has continued the positive momentum around our players committing to the club’s future – he is confident that we are heading in the right direction and he wants to be part of that,” he said.
“This follows on from Jack Steven committing to a five-year deal at the start of the year and our Saints Future Fest campaign last year under which saw 19 of our young players put pen to paper.”
Richardson said the continued improvement of St Kilda’s exciting, young group of players had been the highlight of the 2015 season and that Roberton is a good example of that.
“Roberton has worked his way up to become a regular, valuable part for our defensive group and we are delighted to have him commit to us by signing a contract extension.”
Today’s announcement continues the raft of good news coming out of Linen House Centre including winning four games to the mid-season break, playing five new players this season (McCartin, Lonie, McKenzie, Sinclair and Membrey) and signing new corporate partners Dare Iced Coffee, SEEK and the Susan Day Group.
