Jameis Winston’s mentality and outlook proves he’s destined for greatness

We all know that Jameis Winston is a young quarterback who is hungry to make his mark and flourish into one of the best quarterbacks in the league.
At just 23-years-old, he has already made it clear that he is destined for greatness and provided another example why at mini camp last week.
The Bucs wrapped up their final day of camp on Thursday and while the rest of the team was excited to finish early and get ice cream after a brutal series of three day workouts, Winston wanted to more and was eager to continue practicing in an effort to improve his game.
“Jameis was the one guy in the huddle who wanted to keep going,” coach Koetter said following practice at One Buc Place on Thursday, according to Jenna Laine of ESPN.
So that’s precisely what he did. When the majority of the team left, Winston stayed.
Now that mini camp is over, the Buccaneers have six weeks off before they report back to One Buc Place for training camp in July. This means the Bucs will have some down time before the grind for the 2017 NFL season officially kicks off. However, although the team will technically be “on a break,” coach Koetter anticipates that Winston will spend his time working hard to perfect his game in light of the season being right around the corner.
“Jameis — no one has higher expectations for his performance than he does,” Koetter said at One Buc Place. “I mean, he’s aiming to be elite, not just one of 32. And because he has such high expectations, and we have high expectations, it’s a never-ending process.”
Koetter added that his young quarterback’s mentality is what makes him such a valuable asset to the team and their future success. He’s a guy that’s driven, motivated, hungry and is well on his way to becoming one of the most elite quarterbacks in the league. With time and experience, of course.
