Bachar Houli Cup Finals Kick off at Punt Road
The third annual Victorian Bachar Houli Cup will today be held at Punt Road Oval, Richmond.
Developed by the Australia Post AFL Multicultural Program and Bachar Houli, the program provides Islamic based schools and students an opportunity to participate in an AFL competition.
The Bachar Houli Cup is a national program, played in Victoria, New South Wales, Queensland and Western Australia. The program is supported by the Federal government and Australia Post, and is targeted at secondary students in years seven and ten.
The program encourages students to make the transition from school football into community clubs, as well as provides an AFL and cultural role model in Bachar Houli.
The best performing students will be selected into The Bachar Houli Academy, a high performance football talent camp held September 22-26 for emerging junior players aged 14-17 years, who are from an Islamic background.
